every winter and spring, the university of la verne community gathers to celebrate its graduating students at commencement. multiple ceremonies honor undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral candidates from all walks of life and from the university’s 10 campuses across california.
graduates walk with pride as they join the ranks of leo alumni. guests watch as friends and family receive a university degree and celebrate a lifetime of learning. commencement is more than a ceremony – it is a tradition that strengthens the university of la verne year after year.
over the course of the remote fall semester, we have worked diligently to determine the best options to safely reschedule a commencement ceremony for you and your fellow graduates.
as the coronavirus pandemic continues to threaten the safety of our communities, we have found it challenging to predict when public health guidelines will permit large social gathering in our immediate and surrounding communities. this makes it difficult to foresee any large, in-person events in our near future. in light of this information, we turn to you with an option to celebrate safely.
both the spring class of 2020 and the winter class of 2021 will have the option to graduate through a virtual commencement ceremony on january 30, 2021.
while we are disappointed that we cannot host an in-person event at this time, we remain committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families as well as provide a memorable, high-quality commencement ceremony that ensures you are celebrated for your hard work and determination.
updates on commencement will be made available through your student email and on our website on a continual basis. for general inquiries, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
